Pieter van Schalkwyk started his career as a plant maintenance engineer and has combined more than a decade of engineering with nearly two decades in IT, focused on making AI safe to deploy in safety-critical industrial operations. As CEO and Founder of XMPro, he leads the development of the Agentic Operations (AO) Platform, which enables coordinated teams of AI agents to autonomously execute, optimize, and govern operational processes in manufacturing, energy, mining, and utilities.
His work bridges business strategy and technical execution, from optimizing power grids and industrial processes to developing governance architectures that ensure AI safety, compliance, and scalability in regulated environments. He is the architect of XMPro’s Operational Identity Model, which encodes institutional process knowledge as agent-accessible intelligence, and the Human Agency Scale framework for progressive autonomous operations.
